OUR MISSION

The mission of Calvary Chapel Faith Fellowship is the same mission Jesus gave His followers: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

The Foundational Principles of the
Calvary Chapel Movement

We look to the book of Acts as the model of the church filled with the Holy Spirit, led by the Holy Spirit and empowered by the Holy Spirit. The four basic functions of the early church are found in Acts 2:42: "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers."

Church government typically is found in three basic forms: rule by bishop or overseer (episkopos); a board of elders (presbyteros); and congressional. In Calvary Chapel, we believe that the senior pastor is ruled by the Lord and aided by the Board of Directors to discover the mind and will of Jesus Christ and His church.

We believe that there is an experience of the empowering of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer that is distinct and separate from the indwelling of the Spirit that takes place at conversion. We acknowledge a three fold relationship between the Holy Spirit and believer; "para"- coming alongside, "en"- in you; and "epi'- an overflow.

We have a relaxed, casual style. We don't get involved in a lot of spiritual hype. We don't try to motivate people carnally, and we are not apt to shout at the congregation. We simply trust in the work of the Holy Spirit, and of Jesus Christ who is building His church as He said He would.

We realize that without the grace of God, none of us would have a chance. We need the grace of God in our daily lives. We believe in the love and grace that seeks to restore the fallen.

We endeavor to declare to people the whole counsel of God. The teaching ministry of Calvary Chapel expositional (chapter by chapter and verse by verse) in nature. We read the word, interpret the word and bring application of the word.

Another characteristic of Calvary Chapel is the centrality of Jesus in our worship. We don't allow any practice or behavior during our services that would distract people from focusing on Him.

We believe that Jesus Christ will come for His church- a Biblical event known as the Rapture. Then a seven-year period which the Bible calls, "The Tribulation" will begin, followed by the Second Coming of Jesus to the earth and the Millennial (1000 year) reign of Christ upon the earth.

While we have strong Biblical convictions, it is our desire not to divide God's people over non-essential issues. When the Bible speaks clearly, we must as well. But on other issues, we try to recognize the spiritual validity of both sides of the debate and avoid excluding or favoring those on one side or the other.

What We Believe

We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God fully inspired and without error and the infallible rule of faith and practice. The Word of God is the foundation upon which the church operates and is the basis for church government. We believe the Word of God supersedes any earthly law that is contrary to the Holy Scriptures. God's Word is the sole resource for establishing our doctrine and Statement of Faith. (Nehemiah 8:8; Isaiah 28:13; John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:23-25; 2 Peter 1:3-4, 21.)

We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all things, upholds all thing and governs all things. (Genesis1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 44:8; Matthew 28:19-20; John 10:30; Hebrews 1:3)

We believe in the person of God the Father, an infinite, eternal, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayers; and that He saves from sin and death all those who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (Deuteronomy 33:27: Psalm 90:2; 102:27; John 3:16; 4:24; 1 Timothy 1:17; Titus 1:3.)

We believe in the Person of Jesus Christ God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teaching. His vicarious, atoning, substitutionary, sacrificial death on the cross, His burial, resurrection and ascension into heaven where, as our High Priest, He ever lives to make intercession for those who place their faith and trust in Him; we believe in His personal return to earth to set up His Millennial Kingdom. (Isaiah 7:14; Micah 5:2; Matthew 1:23; Mark 16:19; Luke 1:34-35; John 1:1-2; 8:58; 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 1 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 1:8 7:25; 1 John 1:2; Revelation 1:8.)

We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit, who came from the Father to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ. (John 14:26; 16:8-11; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:26; 15:13, 16:2; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Hebrews 9:14)

We believe the Holy Spirit permanently indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide. (John 14:16-17; 16:8-11, 13; Romans 8:26.)

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Spirit according to the instructions given in 1 Corinthians 12-14. We do not believe in and therefore reject: positive confession (the "word of faith" movement; belief that God can be commanded to heal or work miracles according to man's will); human prophecy that supersedes the Scriptures; the incorporation of humanistic psychology in Biblical teaching; the overemphasis of spiritual gifts and experiential signs and wonders to the exclusion of Biblical teaching; or that the true born again believer in Jesus Christ can be demon possessed. (1 Corinthians 12,14)

We believe that all people are sinners by nature and choice, falling short of God's righteous standard, breaking His commandments and therefore are under God's judgment. Yet God says and gives new life to all who come to Him in faith trusting in the Person and finished work of Jesus Christ. At the Cross, Jesus Christ die in our place as our substitute, experiencing God's wrath that should have fallen on us. Because Jesus died for the sins of the world, the invitation to believe is open to all- and whoever desires may come unto Jesus for new life and the forgiveness of sins. (Isaiah 53:4-6, 10-11; Matthew 11:28; John 1:29; 3:16; Acts 16:31; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1-3. 8-9; 1 John 2:2; Revelation 22:17.)

We believe in the universal Church, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the Head and all who are born again are members of the body of Christ. (1Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 4:15-16.)

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the church: 1) Full immersion water baptism of believers and the Lord's Supper (Communion). (Matthew 28:19; Luke 22:19-20; Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.) We also believe the Lord Jesus Christ validated the ordinance of marriage. (Matthew 19:1-4; John 2:1-11.)

We believe in the Pre-millennial, Pre-tribulation Rapture of the church where all believers will meet the Lord in the air and be taken out of this world prior to the Tribulation that will come upon the earth. We believe The Bema Seat - or the Judgment Seat of Christ where believers lives of service to our King will be evaluated and appropriate rewards given. (Isaiah 26:20; Matthew 24:29-31; Romans 1:18; 5:9; 2 Peter 2:7-9; Revelation 3:10 5:7-10; 7:13-14; Isaiah 3:10; Acts 16:27; 1 Corinthians 3:10-4:5; Revelation 22:12.)

We believe (1) In the Second Coming of Jesus Christ which is a personal, visible return to earth and the establishment of His millennial Kingdom, (2) In the resurrection of the body, (3) The final judgment and eternal blessing of the righteous and (4) The endless separation of the wicked. (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11-16; 20:11-15.)

We believe in a literal Heaven and a literal Hell and that all those who place their faith, hope, and trust in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in Heaven with the Lord, while those who reject Jesus' free gift of salvation will spend eternity separated from the Lord. (Psalm 9:17; Matthew 5:3, 22; 18:9; 25:30-31; Mark 9:42-49; Luke 12:5; John 3:16; Hebrews 12:23; 1 Peter 1:4; Revelation 14:10-11; 20:11-15.)

We believe in both the sovereignty of God and in the responsibility of man, thus we are neither Five Point Calvinists nor are we Armenians. We are Biblicists. We avoid any theological systems of belief that go beyond the written Word and thereby divide the Body of Christ.
